Why Choose Board Certified?

Board certification by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization indicates that the attorney has substantial and relevant experience in his or her field of practice. It also means that the attorney had to undergo a special test and had to demonstrate special competence in that area of law.

To become board certified an attorney must have been in practice for at least five years with a minimum of three years of experience in that area of specialty. Furthermore, the attorney must pass a special test and be recommended by his or her peers.

The attorney can maintain his or her board certification only by continuing to demonstrate substantial involvement in his or her specialty and annual professional refreshment of legal knowledge through Texas Board of Legal Specialization-approved legal education courses. The number of hours of continuing legal education needed to stay abreast of the current trends in the law that is required to maintain certification is greater than that required of other attorneys.

Established, Dependable and Affordable

Many law bankruptcy firms have come and gone in the 19 years that Cantu & Hickson, P.C., has been in business. Our lawyers have nearly 50 years of combined experience. Our law firm is well established and has maintained an unblemished reputation. On several occasions, we have volunteered to monitor and to care for the clients and the cases of other firms or attorneys who have gone out of business or could no longer provide services. We are local attorneys, and we are here for the long haul.

Our fees for Chapter 13 cases are set by the court, and our fees for Chapter 7 cases are competitive with other attorneys in the area. We do not quote Chapter 7 fees over the telephone because we cannot know how much time or what is involved in a case until we have had time to carefully review each case. This is done at the initial free consultation we offer. The initial consultation is also a good opportunity to get to know the attorney you intend to hire.

Our goals are to use the experience and knowledge of our attorneys to educate our clients about their bankruptcy and debt relief options, and to execute those options while offering our services in a friendly, nonjudgmental environment that will include personal care, attention and service that is also affordable.

At Cantu & Hickson, P.C., our board-certified attorneys are up to the challenge and will draw on their expertise to inform you of your legal options to help you find a solution to your debt problems and put you on your way to financial freedom.
